TASA Race:
Race-Day Service Challenge
Two pit crews. Timed appliance work. Quality judged at every stop. A NASCAR-inspired competition built around the habits customers expect in their homes.
Welcome to the TASA Race
The TASA Race is the final practical competition for TASA appliance-service students. Team Blue and Team Orange compete on identical washers or dryers through timed diagnostics, simple repairs, and a controlled disassembly-and-reassembly challenge. Speed matters, but safe process, correct work, and professional customer behavior matter more.
At the end of every technical round, each team runs a five-second RC rock-crawler relay. Drivers rotate on the race director's call, and the first team to reach the marked finish line earns relay points. Every student contributes; nobody is eliminated.
🏁 The Customer-Home Rule
Teams must behave as if the instructor's work area is a customer's home: knock and introduce yourself, protect floors, wear PPE, explain before acting, control tools and parts, keep language respectful, clean the area, and leave the appliance and customer informed. Unsafe or unprofessional behavior costs points.

🏎️ RC Rock-Crawler Relay 40 points after each round
At the end of each technical round, the pit crew races one RC rock crawler over the marked course. Each driver gets a five-second driving turn before handing off to the next teammate on the official signal. A clean finish earns the maximum relay score; the first car across the finish line wins the head-to-head bonus.
- Five-second driver turns are timed and equal for every student.
- Teams may earn points for clean handoffs, course progress, and first across the finish.
- Keep RC racing separate from appliances, tools, cords, water, and customer walkways.
📋 Professionalism Points and Penalties
Earn up to 60 points: introduction and customer communication, PPE and safety culture, organized tools and parts, protecting the home, respectful teamwork, accurate explanation, and a clean closeout. Lose points: unsafe energized work, guessing or shotgun parts replacement, careless tool handling, disrespect, profanity, arguing in front of the customer, leaving debris or parts behind, skipping the functional test, or failing to report a mistake. A critical safety violation can stop a round.

Team Blue / Team Orange · Final score: __________ · Race Director: __________
The TASA Race is inspired by race-day teamwork and North Carolina's motorsports culture. It is a TASA educational event, not an official NASCAR event or affiliation. The winner is the pit crew that delivers safe, accurate, professional service from green flag to checkered flag.
