2. Payment Plan

The full tuition balance is due no later than 14 business days before the first day of class unless the student has enrolled in an approved payment plan.

3. Cancellation & Refund Policy

This refund policy complies with North Carolina General Statutes §115D-211 and the rules of the State Board of Proprietary Schools.

  1. Before the first day of class: If the student withdraws, is caused to withdraw by TASA, or TASA cancels the class, the student receives a 100% refund of all tuition and fees paid, including any fee described elsewhere as nonrefundable.
  2. On or before completing 25% of the enrollment period: The student receives at least a 75% refund of tuition paid, excluding only fees clearly disclosed as nonrefundable where permitted by applicable law. For this 120-hour program, 25% equals 30 clock hours.
  3. After 25% of the enrollment period: Any refund is calculated under the applicable North Carolina and federal requirements and the student’s documented last date of attendance.
  4. School-initiated cancellation: If TASA cancels a scheduled program, the student receives a 100% refund of all tuition and fees paid.
  5. Refund processing: Refunds will be issued in the same manner as payment when practicable, or by another documented method, within the time required by law and no later than 30 days after the effective cancellation or withdrawal date unless a different federal requirement applies.
  6. Federal funds: If TASA receives federal funds for a student, federal refund and return-of-funds requirements supersede any inconsistent provision.

4. Student Right to Cancel

The student has the right to cancel this agreement at any time. Cancellation must be submitted in writing (email to info@tasaacademy.com or physical mail to 290 Charlotte Rd, Rutherfordton, NC 28139). The effective date of cancellation is the date the written notice is received by TASA.

A student may also cancel by not attending classes and notifying the school verbally or in writing; however, written notice is recommended to establish a clear cancellation date for refund calculations. The student will be provided a copy of this signed agreement, and TASA will retain the original in the student’s academic file.

5. Attendance Policy

Students are required to attend all scheduled class sessions. Students must complete a minimum of 80% of scheduled clock hours to receive a certificate of completion. Excessive absences may result in dismissal from the program. Tardiness of more than 15 minutes will be recorded as a half-day absence.

6. Academic Standards

Students must achieve a minimum grade of 70% on written assessments and demonstrate competency in all hands-on skill evaluations to receive a certificate of completion. Students who do not meet minimum requirements may be offered additional training at no cost, subject to availability.

7. Conduct & Dismissal

TASA reserves the right to dismiss any student for: (a) failure to meet financial obligations; (b) academic failure after remediation has been offered; (c) violation of school safety rules; (d) dishonesty, theft, or destruction of school property; (e) disruptive behavior that interferes with the learning environment. In the event of dismissal, the refund policy above applies based on the last date of attendance.

8. Certificates & Credentials

Upon successful completion, students receive: (a) Certificate of Completion from TASA; (b) Preparation for the NASTEC (National Appliance Service Technician Certification) exam; (c) EPA 608 preparatory training for refrigerant handling certification.

9. Licensure, Accreditation & Financial Aid Disclosure

IMPORTANT: Thompson Appliance Service Academy is applying for an initial license from the North Carolina State Board of Proprietary Schools and must not represent itself as licensed until the State Board issues a license. TASA is not accredited by an accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, is not authorized for Title IV federal financial aid or GI Bill benefits unless separately approved in writing, and credits earned at TASA may not be accepted by or transferable to other educational institutions.

10. Complaint Procedure

Students with complaints should first attempt to resolve the matter with TASA administration. If unresolved, students may file a complaint with the NC State Board of Proprietary Schools, 5001 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-5001. 11. Acknowledgment

By signing below, I acknowledge that:

  1. I have received, read, and understand this Enrollment Agreement.
  2. I understand the tuition, fees, and payment schedule described above.
  3. I understand the cancellation and refund policy and my right to cancel.
  4. I understand that TASA is applying for an initial proprietary school license and will not represent itself as licensed until the State Board issues a license.
  5. I understand that TASA is not accredited by an accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and that no federal aid or GI Bill benefit is promised.
  6. I have received a copy of the TASA School Catalog.
  7. I understand the attendance and academic requirements.
  8. All information I have provided is true and accurate.
The student shall receive a signed copy of this agreement. TASA retains the original.
